Friends of PYP

Branding | Brochure | Banner | Event Signage | Stickers | Fridge Magnet

The Portland Youth Philharmonic is the nation’s oldest youth philharmonic. Founded in 1924, the non-profit is edging nearer to their centennial anniversary. They strive to grow their legacy for the next 100+ years with their Friends of PYP donor program, which allows alumni, parents, friends, and family to support the ever-evolving community.

Friends of PYP network’s purpose is to engage with music lovers everywhere to build a strong base of support and to introduce Portland Youth Philharmonic to new audiences.

Inspired by Frank Lloyd Wright’s stained glass windows and sleek pattens of the 1920’s art deco movement, the new branding for FoPYP balances tradition and modernity as well as harkens back to the year PYP was formed. Since the brand is coming up on their centennial, I focused on the 1920’s aesthetic that elevates the branding yet remains approachable and contemporary. For this branding package, I created the cohesive brand identity, the multiple pieces of collateral, and the updated logo. I designed brochures for the tiered donor program, as well as magnets, stickers, a note card, a stand-up banner, signage, and digital hero banners.

Pawse

Logo & Branding | Merch | Custom Illustration | Business Cards

Pawse is a dog walking and training service in Sonoma County, CA, started by Maya Merrell. Her brand was founded upon the belief that the ultimate training method lies within the life we lead with our dogs. Pawse’s services include pack walks, overnight boarding, training, and more.

Maya’s vision for her branding was focusing on the synergy between dog owner and pup. She wanted to capture how dogs are a reflection of their owner and how a well-trained dog embodies confidence, a sense of calm, and clear communication through body language. The brand identity for Pawse was designed to showcase the intuitive connectedness we experience when we work in harmony with nature and our pets. The brand colors reflect the natural world and intend to invoke a state of groundedness and serenity.

This freelance project was in collaboration with my design friend, Keith Wallach, who spearheaded the website design and worked with me to round out the brand’s expressions and final deliverables.

By Daizsa Jackson

Logo & Branding | Customized Postcards

Daizsa Jackson is an artist and creative based in Portland, OR, who creates stunning photographs and captures nature and unobserved beauty in her everyday life. For her gallery debut at L'Atelier Yaffe, she wanted branding to launch her website and personalized postcards for a price-accessible means of selling her photographs.

For her logo and brand identity, she wanted to invoke nostalgia of sending postcards to loved ones when traveling. I aimed to create a design that reflects her love of nature and vintage ephemera with a delicate yet moody color palette inspired by her film photographs.

FurEver Friends

Logo & Branding | Business Cards | Tote Bags

FurEver Friends is a handmade pet accessory shop in Nashville, owned and operated by Abby Walters. Her online shop sells bandanas, handmade leashes, and recycled t-shirt toys, as well as an annual Dinos & Dogs calendar that benefits local shelters in the Nashville area. You’ll find her at craft fairs across town with new styles of bandanas and accessories for your pet to rep. Abby’s mission in creating FurEver Friends was to benefit shelter pets like her own dogs, Kaylie and Olive, both of whom are featured in the logo design. She goes above and beyond to give back to the community and support rescues such as Wags & Walks and Jojo’s Dog House, to name a few.

Abby wanted her brand to involve playfulness and her fun-loving approach to business. I aimed to capture her whimsicality in my designs and feature her beloved pups, who were the inspiration behind it all. In addition, the brand’s main font is a visual reference to Foo Fighters, playing up the alliterative identity of the name and the brand’s origin in Music City.

The Grooming Lounge

Logo Customization | Brochure | Retail Signage | Banner | Gift Certificate | Business Card | Merch

The Grooming Lounge is an upscale dog grooming studio in Castle Rock, CO. The owner, Mary Rodriguez, has an eye for detail and a depth of skill that ensures a top-quality experience for all pups and owners. Her grooming style is as much an art as it is a service, and she wanted her branding to reflect the meticulous work she puts into each dog that she grooms.

The brand identity for the Grooming Lounge started with an art deco style logo, where I worked to customize the design and implement it across multiple locations, both print and digital. Although the logo was not built from scratch, this project showed me how to work within an already existing brand identity, create custom marketing collateral, and customize the identity to reflect the brand’s creative goals.
